授業の概要Course Overview

Using “Pathways: Reading, Writing, and Critical Thinking (Third Edition) 2A,” this course focuses on the development of listening skills (such as note-taking, listening for reasons and opinions, and context comprehension and deduction) and speaking skills (including clarifying and rephrasing, and pronunciation). Classes include activities to build academic skills, such as critical thinking and discussion, as well as activities to expand students’ vocabulary.

事前・事後学習、時間等Study Required outside Class(Preparation, etc.)

Two classes’ worth of independent study is required for each weekly session. Students are required to complete the following tasks:
• Before each session, preview the vocabulary, topic, and content of the next textbook unit, as well as the language skills and tasks required (30% of the study time required outside of class).
• After each session, review the vocabulary, content, and tasks from the session and work on follow-up tasks using Spark and other online platforms (70% of the study time required outside of class).

Homework consists of regular review activities using Spark, which include automatically graded listening, reading, and writing activities and video clips, as well as speaking practice.

Teachers will observe and comment on students’ in-class activities and provide feedback on assignments using Moodle and other platforms. Feedback will also be provided online via Spark.
