To acquire the ability to listen effectively in English, aiming at the class target proficiency level.

授業の概要Method of Instruction

The main goal of this course is for students to learn basic listening comprehension techniques, and to master the skills needed to improve their scores on the listening components of standardized English proficiency tests. Along with intensive guided English listening practice in every class, students will practice shadowing and other listening comprehension strategies, as well as completing listening assignments outside class.

事前・事後学習、時間等Study Required outside Class(Preparation, etc.)

Two classes’ worth of independent study is required for each session. Students are required to do the following tasks for each session:
・Prior to each session, preview textbook content, vocabulary, and listening strategies to be studied (30% of the study time required outside of class).
・After each session, review class content, including vocabulary and listening strategies studied, and complete listening assignments (70% of the study time required outside of class).
